Security and reliability in cooling systems

In data centers, hospitals, and large cold storage facilities, cooling systems play a crucial role in daily operations. A cooling system failure, whether due to a power outage or malfunction, can cause significant problems. The Intelligent Thermal Battery offers an effective solution for managing such situations.

In the event of a power outage, restarting a cooling system can take 4-6 minutes. During this time, servers in a data center can overheat, potentially leading to server shutdowns or data loss. Stable and continuous cooling is essential for data centers to ensure uninterrupted operations and data security.

In hospitals, cooling system failures can have serious consequences. Lack of air conditioning in surgical areas can delay surgeries, as higher temperatures increase the risk of complications and infections. Additionally, patients in wards are more likely to become dehydrated, worsening their health conditions.

Cold storage facilities play a vital role in the food industry and other sectors where maintaining product freshness is paramount. Reliable and constant cooling is necessary to preserve the quality and safety of stored goods. A cooling system failure can lead to product spoilage, resulting in significant financial losses.

The HeatTank has a maximum daily heat loss of 1-2%, so it is recommended to recharge it at least once a week (to replenish the heat loss). This ensures that the HeatTank always maintains over 90% charge, providing adequate cooling during emergencies. The HeatVentors control electronics handle the recharging automatically, as well as intervention during emergencies.

For example, consider a HeatTank 50-1 thermal battery with a heat capacity of 60 kWh:

  • If the cooling demand is 60 kW, it can provide cooling for 1 hour (60 kWh / 60 kW = 1 h).

  • If the cooling demand is 120 kW, it can provide cooling for 0.5 hours (60 kWh / 120 kW = 0.5 h).

  • If the cooling demand is 30 kW, it can provide cooling for 2 hours (60 kWh / 30 kW = 2 h).

The following diagram shows the duration of emergency cooling based on the power demand.

The Intelligent Thermal Battery's cooling energy storage system ensures that, in the event of a cooling system failure, the necessary energy is immediately available, and the system can operate uninterrupted for extended periods. This solution helps avoid cooling system failures in data centers, hospitals, and cold storage facilities.
